President’s
Welcome
Greetings Sorors and Friends,
Welcome to our website on behalf of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Rho Delta Zeta Chapter. I am honored and privileged to serve as the 2023-2025 Chapter President. Our membership consists of diverse, talented, and dedicated college-educated women, each bringing a unique perspective and strength to our collective mission to serve the residents of Washtenaw County and beyond.
We are proud of our history and enthusiastically serve the community. Our fundraisers benefit the Margrette Ann Taylor Scholarship Fund, named in honor of one of our charter members. Annually, we award scholarships to Black female graduating seniors from Washtenaw County, emphasizing the value of education in our community.
Since 1998, we have provided effective and impactful programs directly aligned with the Sorority’s international programs, including:
-
-
- Elder Care – Programming focused on the care for senior citizens.
- Adopt-A-School – Programming focused on the welfare of local school(s) and the educational resources for students.
- Z-HOPE (Zetas Helping Other People Excel) – An interactive national service program of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, designed to enhance, cultivate, and empower participants to develop health-promoting lifestyle choices across the lifespan.
-
In addition, we are “engaged” in programming around Voter Registration, Breast Cancer Awareness, Domestic Violence Awareness, and the March of Dimes.
As we celebrate 104 years of Sisterhood, Service, Scholarship, and Finer Womanhood, we reflect on the vision of our five Founders, Arizona Cleaver Stemmons, Pearl Anna Neal, Myrtle Tyler Faithful, Viola Tyler Goings, and Fannie Pettie Watts. A vision that we are proud to continue. Today, more than ever before, as we emerge from the inequities highlighted by COVID-19 and the Black Lives Matter Movement, our voices must be heard, our actions must be deliberate, and our focus must be intentional. As we celebrate, we refocus, renew our commitment, and rededicate ourselves to empowering our community by serving and advocating for the Extraordinary Power of S.H.E – Social, Health, and Economic Justice.
If you are a member of our illustrious and dynamic sisterhood looking for a chapter home, I invite you to attend a chapter meeting and/or event. You will be welcomed with open arms. If you are a community member, please support our public events and fundraisers so we can continue the legacy of the great work our Founders began on January 16, 1920.
We invite you to learn more about us by visiting all our social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Yours in Service,
Linda Edwards-Brown, President, 2023-2025
